As a design company, Thin Air materialised in 2020 (Bunbury, Australia) after an interval from its predecessor, Mirthwerks (Vancouver, Canada). Between 2006-2008 Mirthwerks’ co-founder and principal designer, Amarie Bergman, generated advertising / marketing concepts along with seasonal collections of graphic designs, printed on paper greeting cards, which retailed at Indigo / Chapters and the Vancouver Art Gallery’s store.
Since 2009, Bergman’s focus has been on writing reviews for Whitehot Magazine of Contemporary Art and, above all, conceiving / presenting reductive, dimensionally real objects as interventions / exhibitions in galleries. Her art practice will continue while Thin Air promises to be a phase identified through its strategic placement with on-trend / on-demand printing companies, particularly Das T-Shirt Automat, and by the constancy of Bergman’s clarity of minimalism.
